  • Port Authorities Meet in the OAS to Promote Inter-American Cooperation

    Port authorities from across the Americas met this week in Washington to report on, analyze and assess the implementation of the 2012-2013 Work Program of the Executive Board of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CECIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS). The Third CECIP Work Session included a round table to encourage dialogue and cooperation between Member States and a visit to the Port of Baltimore. The meeting focused on the Work Program, which includes the Technical Advisory Groups’ work plans, as well as to establish next steps pursuant to the Lima Action Plan.

    Port Freeport Commissioners agreed to amend and extend the Memorandum of Understanding with the Panama Canal Authority. Last year, both parties signed the MOU as a joint effort to help promote business between the Canal and Port Freeport for one year. With this renewal, their efforts will be extended for five years.

  • Maritime Emissions Down 40% in U.S. North West

    Maritime-related emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the Puget Sound on the U.S. West Coast dropped 40 percent between 2005 and 2011, while other types of emissions were reduced by as much as 16 percent, according to a new report.

(i) Seminar on Port Statistics (in Spanish): On behalf of the Vice Admiral Mr. Frank Boyle, Chairman of the National Port Authority of Peru (APN) and the Executive Board of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CECIP) the CIP Secretariat is pleased to invite you to the "Seminar on Port Statistics" organized by the APN and the CIP of the OAS, to be held on November 29-30, 2012 in Lima, Peru.

(ii) CIP Magazine Volume 17: The CIP Magazine Volume 17 is in preparation and counts as hosts to the Venezuelan ports, through Bolivarian Ports S.A. Therefore, the edition will include information about the port system of Venezuela, its present and projected. The volume also includes information on ports across the continent.
